About Common Grounds Franklin
Local coffee shop that has been serving Waco for over 30 years.
Located at 3401 Franklin Ave, Waco, TX 76710, Common Grounds Franklin operates as a coffee shop serving Waco in Texas. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 6 am–7 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Common Grounds Franklin at (254) 343-7448; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is commongroundstx.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Waco is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Waco peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is my favorite of all the common grounds locations in Waco! They have the kindest employees even when busy, and they are quick in the drive through which I always appreciate. My 4 year old loves to come and play with his magnets, or other quiet toys. He's been enjoying getting the bananagrams game out and playing with the letters. The food offerings are variable, and I do wish there were more pastry type offerings, but I love it here.

Common Grounds: Strong Bones, Missing a Pulse There’s a certain kind of place you walk into and immediately feel something… And then there’s a place like this—where you walk in and realize you’re going to have to figure it out yourself. ⸻ ☕ First Impression: Built Right, Felt Light Common Grounds looks like it should be happening. • Clean build • Warm wood textures • High-end espresso machine sitting center stage • Patio space with potential Everything says: this place is ready. But then you sit down… …and nothing really pulls you in. Not the menu. Not the energy. Not the experience. It’s not bad. It’s just… not alive yet. ⸻ 🧠 The Menu: Names Without Translation You’ll see drinks like: • Cowboy • No Bull • Caramel Coffee Crunch So naturally, you lean in. But here’s the catch: You don’t know what anything actually is unless you ask. And when you do ask about the “secret sauce,” you get: “It’s like our house syrup… chocolatey, caramel, espresso flavor.” Which is honest—but also revealing. Because what sounds like a signature… …lands like something familiar. ⸻ ☕ The Drinks: Good Enough Isn’t Memorable Ordered two: • Cowboy (iced) • Caramel Coffee Crunch (hot)

We just picked up lunch from Chulada De Maíz today, and I am still completely blown away—this food is phenomenal. First, let's talk about the Breakfast Burrito. I can honestly say it's the best breakfast burrito I have ever had in my entire life. Everything was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. That salsa was truly a "chef's kiss"—delectable and so good my mouth is still watering. But wait, the Quesadilla Meal blew my expectations out of the water! That blue corn tortilla is a game-changer; it was so phenomenal that I don't think I'll ever eat a quesadilla on a flour tortilla again. We also sampled their other entrees, and the steak in the asada burrito, in particular, was cooked to absolute perfection. We have tried burritos and quesadillas from everywhere in Waco, and the quality here is genuinely unmatched. The value is excellent: the proportions you get are right on point for the price. You are getting so much high-quality, amazing food that it is definitely worth every penny. If you have not checked them out yet, you absolutely must! They are currently in a food truck space in front of Common Grounds on Franklin Avenue. You won't regret it! I'm so glad I ordered ext

Great coffee! Always love that they have two different varieties of drip on hand and their porch and outdoor seating is fantastic, great place to sit in the morning and watch the sunrise. They’re also one of a handful of coffee shops open at 6 AM during the week. ALSO, their new food truck partner, Chulada de Maiz, is delicious!! great breakfast burritos/tacos!

I can't believe this place has been open for almost a year and this was my first visit! I really love this location!! It's makes me so happy to see an old building like this, renovated into such a beautiful retro space!! I love mid century modern decor/design and they knocked it out of the park with this space! The patio is amazing! The drinks are wonderful, I really have come to expected excellent coffee from all of the common grounds and this one does NOT disappoint! The barista was super friendly, knowledgeable and was able to help us decide on drinks. I love their seasonal flavors and the Top of the Morning Matcha was perfect! I really enjoyed it.
